They enhance the immune system, combat fatigue, fight viruses, and inhibit tumors. The selenium-rich content in morel mushrooms is a component of glutathione peroxidase in red blood cells, capable of transporting large amounts of oxygen to inhibit malignant tumors and inactivate cancer cells, and it enhances the antioxidant effect of vitamin E.

Morel mushrooms have a high organic germanium content, which strengthens the body, prevents colds, and boosts the immune system. They are rich in essential minerals; per 100 grams of dried sample, the potassium and phosphorus content is 7 times and 4 times that of Cordyceps, respectively; the zinc content is 4.3 times that of shiitake mushrooms and 4 times that of Hericium; the iron content is 31 times that of shiitake mushrooms and 12 times that of Hericium, etc.

Morel mushrooms have a cap that is nearly spherical, oval to elliptical, 4-10 cm high and 3-6 cm wide, with a blunt round top. The surface has honeycomb-like pits, irregular to nearly round, 4-12 mm wide, egg-shell colored to light yellow-brown, with lighter-colored ridges that intersect irregularly. The stem is nearly cylindrical, almost white, hollow, smooth on the upper part, enlarged at the base with irregular shallow grooves, 5-7 cm long, about two-thirds the width of the cap. The asci are cylindrical, with long oval spores that are colorless and arranged in a single row, eight per ascus. The paraphyses have enlarged tips, up to 12 microns thick, are lightweight, and have a brittle texture.

Morel mushrooms are distributed worldwide, with wide distribution in France, Germany, the United States, India, and China, and sporadic distribution in some regions of Russia, Sweden, Mexico, Spain, Czechoslovakia, and Pakistan. In China, morel mushrooms are widely distributed, ranging from the three northeastern provinces in the north to Guangdong, Fujian, and Taiwan in the south, from Shandong in the east to Xinjiang, Tibet, Ningxia, and Guizhou in the west, covering 28 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions.
